Israeli Attempt to Smash Iran with US Military: Backlash Could Lead to New Holocaust
By Kevin Barrett, http://mujca.com
As rumors of another US war of aggression spread, one thing is clear: The attack on Iran, if it comes, will be an Israeli war, not an American one. (Scroll down to David Bromwich’s article for details.)
I have spent extensive time in several countries—namely France, Mexico, Guatemala, and Morocco—and everywhere I have lived outside the US, a simmering anger against Israel, and by extension “the Jews,” is commonplace, especially among the educated elite.
As a Muslim, I have prayed beside other Muslims who hail from many places. I have had long conversations with Moroccan cab drivers and Saudi oil engineers, African-American professors and Malaysian physicians. And while Muslims rarely show the kind of anti-Jewish rancor I encountered among French intellectuals, many are getting closer and closer to it, thanks to the unending and ever-escalating series of Israeli outrages—and the ever-more-obvious Zionist takeover of the US government, media and academy, with the result that the US has joined Israel as the world’s worst pair of war-criminal nations.
I have always argued with people who say “It’s the Jews, stupid.” I co-founded MUJCA largely to reach out to Jews. Surely, I thought, Jews would remember the Reichstag Fire. Surely they would recognize 9/11 as the kind of blood libel they have faced for centuries. Surely they would take to the streets en masse to protest the 9/11 anti-Muslim blood libel, the Hitler-style neocon takeover of the USA, the evisceration of the Constitution, the goose-stepping jackboots of mass-murderers in uniform, the wars of aggression that have killed over one million people and threaten to eclipse the crimes of the Nazis. “Never again,” right?
But now, as Cheney’s Hitlerian regime prepares to launch another criminal war on behalf of Israel, the deafening silence of America’s Jews—whose wildly disproportionate power in the US financial sector, media, academy, and political class has made this wag-the-dog situation possible—makes me wonder if it was all in vain.
If the US attacks Iran on behalf of Israel, hundreds of millions of people will dedicate their lives, and their childrens’ lives, and their childrens’ childrens’ lives, to exacting revenge. It will be the end of any hope of interfaith dialogue between Muslims and Jews, and the beginning of a war of extermination that can only end in the complete annihilation of one of the two parties. Given demographic and geographic realities, it is almost certainly the Jews who will be annihilated.
An Israeli-mandated US war against Iran might or might not escalate into a general nuclear war, with Russia and China rushing to defend their Iranian interests. In any case, it would destroy the US economy and badly damage the world economy, perhaps to the point of a general breakdown of civilization. If this unprecedented disaster happens, Israel and by extension “the Jews” will be blamed, and another Holocaust may result.
I hope and pray that Americans will be able to distinguish between those Jewish individuals and institutions who bear much of the responsibility for the 9/11 wars—JINSA, PNAC, AIPAC, the neocons and their allies—and that vast majority of American Jews who oppose the 9/11 wars.

"We Are Going To Hit Iran. Bigtime"

I have a friend who is an LSO on a carrier attack group that is planning and staging a strike group deployment into the Gulf of Hormuz. (LSO: Landing Signal Officer- she directs carrier aircraft while landing) She told me we are going to attack Iran. She said that all the Air Operation Planning and Asset Tasking are finished. That means that all the targets have been chosen, prioritized, and tasked to specific aircraft, bases, carriers, missile cruisers and so forth.... Pentagon ‘three-day blitz’ plan for Iran
THE Pentagon has drawn up plans for massive airstrikes against 1,200 targets in Iran, designed to annihilate the Iranians’ military capability in three days, according to a national security expert.
Alexis Debat, director of terrorism and national security at the Nixon Center, said last week that US military planners were not preparing for “pinprick strikes” against Iran’s nuclear facilities. “They’re about taking out the entire Iranian military,” he said.
Debat was speaking at a meeting organised by The National Interest, a conservative foreign policy journal. He told The Sunday Times that the US military had concluded: “Whether you go for pinprick strikes or all-out military action, the reaction from the Iranians will be the same.” It was, he added, a “very legitimate strategic calculus”.
President George Bush intensified the rhetoric against Iran last week, accusing Tehran of putting the Middle East “under the shadow of a nuclear holocaust”. He warned that the US and its allies would confront Iran “before it is too late”.

We can stop the coming war with Iran – but concerned Americans must act quickly

More rumors of war with Iran are circulating <http://icga. blogspot. com/2007/ 08/post-labor- day-product- rollout-war- with.html>here (via <http://www.juancole .com/2007/ 08/cheney- iran-here- we-go-again. html>Juan Cole), with inside scuttlebutt from inside <http://www.observer .com/node/ 47455>the neoconservative network:
"They [the source's institution] have ‘instructions' (yes, that was the word used) from the Office of the Vice-President to roll out a campaign for war with Iran in the week after Labor Day; it will be coordinated with the American Enterprise Institute, the Wall Street Journal, the Weekly Standard, Commentary, Fox, and the usual suspects. It will be heavy sustained assault on the airwaves, designed to knock public sentiment into a position from which a war can be maintained. Evidently they don't think they'll ever get majority support for this – they want something like 35-40 percent support, which in their book is plenty."
This comes via <http://www.cic. nyu.edu/staff. html>Barnett R. Rubin, Director of Studies and Senior Fellow at New York University's Center on International Cooperation, and a leading expert on Afghanistan, who has it from "a friend who has excellent connections in Washington and whose information has often been prescient." According to Rubin's anonymous <http://en.wikipedia .org/wiki/ Sibyl>sibyl – or is that seer? – we can look forward to "a big kickoff on September 11."
This pretty much comports with what we've been reporting on Antiwar.com for the past few months, and with recent reports of an imminent US assault on Iran: see my last column on this subject. So have <http://www.alwayson vacation. com/LSS/images/ 38092/PanamaCity Beach2BedroomsSl eeps6_1147193719 5871.jpg>a nice vacation, soak up as much sun as you can, because dark days lie ahead.
... Sustained public pressure to move the Webb-Udall legislation forward could slow down, if not entirely stop, <http://antiwar. com/justin/ ?articleid= 11521>the rush to war with Iran – but we don't have much time for the antiwar movement to get its act together.

Iraq, Israel, Iran
September 4, 2007
By David Bromwich
When John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt's article on the Israel Lobby appeared in the London Review of Books, after having been commissioned and killed by the Atlantic Monthly, neoconservative publicists launched an all-out campaign to slander the authors as anti-Semites...
...They (the Israeli leadership) would appear to have obtained assurances, however, that once the "regime change" in Iraq was accomplished, the next war would be against Iran...
...On all sober estimates, Iran is several months from mastering the nuclear cycle, and several years from producing a weapon. Whereas Israel for decades has been in possession of a substantial nuclear arsenal.
How mad is Elliott Abrams? If one passage cited by Mearsheimer-Walt is quoted accurately, it would seem to be the duty of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to subject Abrams to as exacting a challenge as the Senate Judiciary Committee brought to Alberto Gonzales. The man at the Middle East desk of the National Security Council wrote in 1997 in his book Faith or Fear: "there can be no doubt that Jews, faithful to the covenant between God and Abraham, are to stand apart from the nation in which they live. It is the very nature of being Jewish to be apart--except in Israel--from the rest of the population." When he wrote those words, Abrams probably did not expect to serve in another American administration. He certainly did not expect to occupy a position that would require him to weigh the national interest of Israel, the country with which he confessed himself uniquely at one, alongside the national interest of a country in which he felt himself to stand "apart...from the rest of the population." Now that he is calling the shots against Hamas and Hezbollah, Damascus and Tehran, his words of 1997 ought to alarm us into reflection.
Among many possible lines of inquiry, the senators might begin by recognizing that the United States has other allies in Asia besides Israel. [Wrong! Israel is not a US ally; it refuses an alliance with the US on the grounds that it does not want to declare what its borders are. –KB] One of those allies is India; and there is a further point of resemblance. In a distinct exception to our anti-proliferation policy, we have allowed India to develop nuclear weapons; just as, in an earlier such exception, we allowed Israel to do the same. But suppose we read tomorrow a statement by the director of the South Asia desk of the National Security Council which declared: "There can be no doubt that Hindus are to stand apart from any nation in which they live. It is the very nature of being Hindu to be apart--except in India--from the rest of the population." Suppose, further, we knew this man still held these beliefs at a time of maximum tension between India and Pakistan; and that he had recently channeled 86 million dollars to regional gangs and militias bent on increasing the tension. Would we not conclude that something in our counsels of state had gone seriously out of joint?
...Unless some opposition can rouse itself, we are poised to descend with non-partisan compliance into a moral and political disaster that will dwarf anything America has seen.
