Remember, remember the 5th of November! Future historians will note that on the Fifth of November, 2007, Americans got fed up with their government and began celebrating Guy Fawkes Day with house parties and screenings of V for Vendetta. In Madison, Wisconsin, a full house turned out to watch and discuss the film that James Woolcott called “the most subversive cinematic deed of the Bush-Blair era.” Along with the house parties and screenings in Ohio, Vermont and California, the Madison event launched Guy Fawkes Day as a 9/11 truth holiday alongside the Boston Tea Party for 9/11 Truth and the 11th of the month Truth Action Day.
ON NOVEMBER 5TH, 2008, LET’S GIVE THEM A 5TH OF NOVEMBER THAT THEY WILL NEVER FORGET! Remember, remember that Wednesday the 5th of November, 2008 will be the day after the elections. We will undoubtedly have a lot both to protest and to celebrate. We will protest the fraud and corruption that dominate the process and outcome of almost all federal elections...AND, IN THE ALL-TOO-LIKELY EVENT THAT A CORRUPT PRO-WAR, ANTI-TRUTH CANDIDATE IS “ELECTED” PRESIDENT, WE WILL CELEBRATE THE VICTORY OF THE NON-VOTING MAJORITY! Read Joel Hirschhorn’s arguments for boycotting federal elections here and here and get ready to boycott on November 4th, 2008 (assuming there is no non-corrupt candidate)—and to celebrate victory with bonfires, fireworks, masked revelry and V for Vendetta screenings on the 5th of November!
